I am gonna go get a bunch

A professor at CCNY for a physiological psych class told his class about bananas.  He said the expression 'going bananas' is from the effects of bananas on the brain.  Read on:

Never, put your banana in the refrigerator!!!
This is interesting.

After reading this, you'll never look at a banana in the same way again.
Bananas contain three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber. A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy.

Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes.

But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit.
It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet.

Depression: According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.

PMS:
Forget the pills - eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.

Anemia :
High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of haemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anaemia.

Blood Pressure:
This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it perfect to beat blood pressure. So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.

Brain Power: 200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school ( England ) were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.

Constipation:
High in fibber, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives.

Hangovers:
One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey.. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.
Heartburn:
Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.
Morning Sickness: Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness.

Mosquito bites:
Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation.

Nerves:
Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system.

Overweight and at work? Studies at the Institute of Psychology in Austria found pressure at work leads to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and chips. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs. The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods every two hours to keep levels steady.

Ulcers:
The banana is used as the dietary food against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chronicler cases. It also neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach.

Temperature control:
Many other cultures see bananas as a 'cooling' fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers. In Thailand , for example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature.
Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD): Bananas can help SAD sufferers because they contain the natural mood Enhancer tryptophan.

Smoking &Tobacco Use:
Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking. The B6, B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.

Stress:
Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body's water balance. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These can be rebalanced with the help of a high-potassium banana snack.

Strokes:
According to research in The New England Journal of Medicine, eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death by strokes by as much as 40%!

Warts:
Those keen on natural alternatives swear that if you want to kill off a wart, take a piece of banana skin and place it on the wart, with the yellow side out. Carefully hold the skin in place with a plaster or surgical tape!
So, a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills. When you compare it to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around So maybe it's time to change that well-known phrase so that we say, 'A banana a day keeps the doctor away!'

PASS IT ON TO YOUR FRIENDS

PS: Bananas must be the reason monkeys are so happy all the time! I will add one here; want a quick shine on our shoes?? Take the INSIDE of the banana skin, and rub directly on the shoe...polish with dry cloth. Amazing fruit

Trying to explain

I am starting to learn now that sometimes you try to explain to someone that your hurt or how you feel about something or someone and it does not seem to come out right. I think it does come out right but people are not ready to hear it.

It the past few months this has personally happened to me.You feel what you feel, people feel what they feel. Go by your gut and explain your feelings but be ready for repercussions, people just get defensive  it is just the way life is. I don't mean to be a downer but if who your trying to explain to loves and cares about you, they will listen  and you have planted a seed. They just need to get there in their mind and time

I found this helpful

You Are the One You Are Waiting For
Turn to Yourself

The outer world serves as a mirror and our inner world has a magnetic force that draws to us what we need to evolve.

... We spend a lot of our lives looking for role models, mentors, teachers, and gurus to guide us on our path.
There is nothing wrong with this and, in fact, finding the right person at the right time can really help.
However, it is important to realize that in the absence of such a figure, we can very safely rely upon ourselves.
We carry within us everything we need to know to make progress on our paths to self-realization.
The outer world serves as a mirror.
Or to use another metaphor, our inner world has a magnetic force that draws to us what we need to evolve to the next level.
All we need to do to see that we already have everything we need is to let go of our belief that we need to seek in order to find.

The path of the spirit is often defined as a journey with a goal such as the fabled pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
In this metaphor, a person begins a search for something they want but do not have and then they find it, and there is a happy ending.
However, most of us know that getting what we want only makes us happy for a moment, and then the happiness passes until a new object of desire presents itself.
Joy is a permanent aspect of our inner selves and is not separate from us at any point.
We do not have to travel to find it or imagine that it resides only in the body of another.
In fact, what the best teachers will do is point out that this very precious elixir is something we already possess.

So when we find ourselves on our path, not knowing which way to turn and wishing for guidance, we can turn to ourselves.
We may not know the right answer rationally or intellectually, but if we simply ask, let go, and wait patiently, an answer will come.
The more we practice this and trust this process, the less we will look outside ourselves for teachers and guides for we will have successfully become our own.

Is the Acai Berry a Superfood? Please read I found this very informative ...Mia

While it would be almost impossible to live up to all the claims made about it, this antioxidant-rich, grape-sized fruit from the Amazon is a nutritious powerhouse — just like any berry.

Although you’re not likely to find the acai berry itself on store shelves, you can’t seem to escape hearing about it. The dark purple berry is tops on many so-called superfood lists. It’s even been featured on Oprah Winfrey’s and Rachel Ray’s TV shows.
Grown in Central and South America, the acai (pronounced ah-sigh-EE) berry is the fruit of the Amazon palm tree. Because the fruit, which is the size of a small grape, is delicate, transporting it is difficult. That’s why you are most likely to find the acai berry as an ingredient in smoothies or as juice in the refrigerated or freezer section of natural food stores, says registered dietitian Keri Gans, MS, RD, a spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association. It’s also sold as a powder and in capsules. “It’s put in a lot of products because it is touted as a superfood,” she says.
Is the Acai Berry Really That Special?
The acai berry is a good source of fiber, antioxidants, and heart-healthy fats. “Antioxidants strengthen our immune system and protect against cancers,” Gans says. For that reason, berries should be part of a healthy diet. Still, she says, despite claims to the contrary, no one has proven that the acai berry has any more antioxidants than other berries.
Many say the acai berry can perform assorted wonders, from preventing aging effects to lowering cholesterol to increasing energy. “[We hear] ‘the acai berry can do these amazing things,’ but there’s no research to prove any of these claims,” Gans says. “We wish it was a magical berry, but there is no one superfood. It’s a case of ‘if it sounds too good to be true, it is.’”
The same can be said of the hype surrounding the acai berry diet — the fruit doesn’t have any special powers to help people lose weight. Most berries are low in calories and high in nutrients and fiber, making them filling — raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries, just to name a few. That’s how they might help promote weight loss, Gans says. Yes, acai berries are high in antioxidants, which may help flush unwanted fat from the body. Still, there’s no scientific proof that the acai berry, the main ingredient in the acai berry diet, has any special ability to help you lose weight, she says. “Losing weight requires a commitment to watching your diet and being active — not just eating acai berries,” warns Gans.

Family and friends

Sometimes no matter how hard you explain to family and friends how you feel about them or a situation they don't see it your way or your intentions. This is why things, issues feelings are interrupted wrong. Sometimes they are just plain rude and may seem emotionless or to emotional, people Handel things differently . I am sure they are not happy inside but may feel they are right. You have to let go as hard as it may seem when you come to a block in the road. Like a stream with a rock in its way , eventually the water trickles down sometimes in a peaceful matter other times a rapid waterfall.
People do not like conflict but it happens. Life is about conflict that is how we bring about change in yourself, others and the world. Lets make it for the better, live, learn, breath and be happy it all works out the way it should be.
Peace,
Mia

memeories

Memories....They have test's now to show what a person is thinking and what part of the brain the memory is stored and how we recall the memory, it is far from perfected yet and no it cant read our minds, not yet at least. I think its pretty amazing what goes on in our minds. The other day I was thinking of a past relationship I had and I realized that I was playing over and over in my head the memories of this person when things were good between us. It made me feel good to think of this person and I felt like I was there again in that time, until I painfully remembered I was back in the now and that memory of that person although stored in my mind was over in the present. Why did I keep drifting back in my mind and think these thoughts? I guess because it felt good, was it healthy , not really, could I help it, NO.
Its funny how a certain song or smell can set us off. I can remember a summer night when I was 15 and could not sleep. I had made chocolate chip cookies and was with my friends all day. When this certain song comes on the radio I always go back to that night , its so weird because it wasn't a milestone or anything, but every time I hear that song, "All by myself" I am there in that bed, hot summer night, the smell of cookies and I cant sleep
I know now everything points to the present and in the now, but we do have to make good memories. As much as were suppose to be in the now we drift back and we remember and eventually the bad is forgotten and the good remains and leaves us with a warmth, like a cozy fire on a cold winters night.

"If people are truly, madly, deeply in love with each other, they will find a way."
- an anonymous old soul. This is so true I will discuss this later

There is no such thing as an excuse for not being together if there is real LOVE there... If a man is in Love with you, he will do what he has to do, otherwise move on to bigger and better things . Read the Book, He's not that in to you...It help me in understanding men and they way they tick. You deserve better, look after yourself, if your not being treated they way you should be, MOVE ON, it's not meant to be. Love yourself first, learn how to. you need to accomplish that first before you LOVE someone else... It's all good, Its all a lesson for the next step and the real deal.
Peace

This blog is intended for a place for women to come  Vent, cry, share, grow and cherish their thoughts. Lets help each other out with different ideas and views. Its kind of like a giant band-aid for all of us. Sometimes we find our friends that love us want us to move on and get sick of hearing us go on about a love gone wrong, a diet we cant keep a bad habit that keeps coming back, our jobs and on and on and on. Here is a safe haven to come together and share with other on and be nurtured because sometimes we cant move on until we understand what happened or someone validates our feelings, something hits home or we hit rock bottom. Either way someone will be here to relate and pick you up. In helping others you help yourself .Lets help each other to  learn to move on. I will also be discussing health, recipes, Diets, love, really just about anything as long as it makes us feel good.  Lets be positive together and grow. I also intend for the site to be a stepping stone for knowledge on various subjects. I will  have visiting Guest.
